How to use

  1. Export your data from Google Takeout as a .zip (steps below).
  2. Open the converter and select the zip. If the export came in parts, select them all.
  3. Compare the day count and the "Last 7 days" table with the app.
  4. Download the CSV for Excel or Google Sheets, or the Markdown zip for a notes app such as Obsidian.

How to export your Fitbit data

If you sign in with a Google Account, open Google Takeout (takeout.google.com), select Google Health and choose .zip as the file type. Google emails you a download link when the export is ready.

More details
  • If you still sign in with a Fitbit account, request your account archive from Data Export in the Settings menu on fitbit.com. It can take a few days (Google Health Help).
  • After May 19, 2026, Fitbit accounts can no longer sign in. Google announced that data deletion would begin on July 15, 2026 (Google Health Help).
  • Exports larger than the size you choose are split into several zips, and the link expires after about 7 days. The converter does not read .tgz files.

Which files are read, and how times and units are handled

The converter reads only the sleep, sleep score, steps, resting heart rate, weight and exercise files. It finds them by file name, so folder names do not matter.

CSV columns

Daily CSV: date, steps, sleep_start, sleep_end, minutes_asleep, minutes_awake, time_in_bed, deep_minutes, light_minutes, rem_minutes, other_sleep_minutes, sleep_score, resting_heart_rate, weight_kg (or weight_lb), bmi, body_fat_percent, exercise_count, exercise_minutes, exercise_types.

Exercise CSV: start, activity, duration_minutes, active_minutes, steps, calories, average_heart_rate.

File names and sources

Google does not document the columns in the export, so the formats were checked against public parsers. If your values differ from the app, tell us through the feedback form below.

    FAQ

How do I export Fitbit data to Excel?
Export your data with Google Takeout, select the zip in the converter and download the CSV. Excel opens it directly, with one row per day.
Why is my Fitbit export full of JSON files instead of a spreadsheet?
Google Takeout splits your data into many JSON and CSV files by type and date. The converter combines them into one table.
Can I import the CSV into Garmin or Apple Health?
No. The converter makes a CSV for spreadsheets and Markdown for notes. It does not create Garmin or Apple Health import files.
